PRODUCERS' ORGANIZATIONSProducers' organizationCOSART works with an average of 25 groups from rural communities or peri-urban marginalized districts from the regions of Cusco, Puno, Lima, Ayacucho and Piura. Seven groups are still under conformation. This activity, up to now, benefits to 325 families in a direct way (considering an average of 13 families per group), and to 150 in an indirect way. It covers Quechua regions as well as Aymaras regions. At a community level, the producers are organized into committees that correspond to entities with formal and official recognition inside these communities. This integration through committees thus represents the most natural form of integration inside the community. At a regional level, COSART is fomenting the creation of regional representations constituted by representatives of the groups of a same region. Beyond acquiring more autonomy, they have the role of looking for local markets, get in touch with other institutions, get trained or looking for training means, looking for exhibition places, dispatch responsibilities to the different groups, meeting and working with the different groups of their region, being committed with the Departmental Federation of Peasants and participating to the activity of COSART. |
